Iv. Javakhishvili St.

Information in details

The building built at the end of the 19th century, located at 17, Ivane Javakhishvili, is among the elite residential houses of Javakhishvili Street and is one of the notable examples. The Latin U-shaped building stands on a slightly sloping terrain to the east and is crowned by a spired dome at the intersection of two streets, with imposing corner bay windows and single-rusted facades. The eclectic, pseudo-baroque-looking building is richly decorated; It is worth noting that the frieze belt is decorated with relief tiles; Lavish, sculptured plasterwork of decorative tiles with griffins, lion mascarons are inserted between second-story windows, and there are  arched openings framed by wide, rusticated lintels on both floors. The building is completely organically inscribed in the general urban context of the area; It is inseparable from the street from the  proportional or large-scale, artistic-stylistic and spatial-organizational point of view.
