Information in details
The building located at 6, Kikodze St. was built in 1906 by Tbilisi architect A. Ozerov. The owner of the building was Markoz Dolukhanov. The building is an outstanding example of modern "Art Nouveau" architecture, which is saturated with elements of historicism and romanticism popular at that time, which is why the building reminds us of a medieval castle. It is known that the Caucasus Tuberculosis Society was located on the first floor of the building. The owner of the house, Markoz Isaya’s son Dolukhanov, was a lawyer by profession. At different times, he held the positions of the deputy mayor of the city, was the chairman of the Armenian Charitable Society and the member of the Board of Trustees of the Tbilisi Commercial School. The Dolukhanov family was distinguished by European education and lifestyle, great philanthropy. The family had two children: Isaya Dolukhanov son of Markozi, a famous lawyer, and Mariam Dolukhanova-Tumanova daughter of Markozi (wife of Giorgi, son of Mikhail Tumanov). After Sovietization, the paternal house was confiscated from the family and the families of the siblings became victims of repression. Traces of Isaya Dolukhanov are lost in Soviet gulags, his daughter Elisabed was shot in 1938. As for Mariam Tumanova, both of her children shared the fate of their uncle and never returned from exile.
