Information in details
The first classical gymnasium
The construction of the first classical gymnasium began in the 1830s, as we can find in archival materials. It seems that the building was reconstructed several times. The first reconstruction took place in 1860-61 by the architect Efianjev, and a thorough reconstruction was carried out a little later, in 1870-1873, by the German architect Otto Jacob Simonson. In 1872, the gardener Karl Scharer was invited to arrange the courtyard of the gymnasium. In the 1880s, repairs of the building were supervised by L. Bilferd.
