Information in details
The building of the end of the 19th century, located at 9, Iv. Javakhishvili St. was an elite residential house of its time, the facade processing of which with its pseudo-baroque appearance, refined proportions, and luxurious facade sculpture attracted attention. The building is a memorial: in 1922-1929, the "People's Art Studio" of the national artist and professor, Mose Toidze, was housed here. The two-story building standing on a slightly sloping terrain to the East has a linear plan. In this case, on the Javakhishvili street side, the building has only one southern central facade. The side facades, adjacent to the neighboring building, are blank walls built with piles of unplastered bricks. The building is completely organically inscribed in the general urban context of the area; From the proportional, large-scale, artistic-stylistic and spatial-organizational point of view, it is inseparable from the street.
