Information in details
The building of the office of the State Bank, located at 12, Purtseladze/ 7, Gudiashvili (former Ketskhoveli) St., is one of the outstanding samples of modernist Tbilisi architecture. Very interesting with the architectural solution of overall volume, distribution of masses and functional-planning harmony of the building. Its artistic expression speaks of outstanding architectural taste and tact.
It is significant that the plot of land on which the office of the State Bank was located spread over a rather large perimeter. It actually started from Loris Melikov Street and extended to the middle of the left wing of Baron Street. The office building of the State Bank is one of the outstanding examples of Tbilisi's modern "Art Nouveau" architecture.
In particular, the bank was located in the building of the current library, and the adjacent building on Baron Street had the function of a residential house for the bank's employees. The two buildings were united by a single, rather large internal yard, so that actually Gudiashvili's employees and service personnel could enter the bank through the yard. The functional planning solution of the mentioned two buildings was organically connected with each other, for example, the living spaces, which came out from the street side, connected directly to the bank building through corridors on the second and third floors. Such a customized, adapted and comfortable system was created for the bank managers - the bank director and his deputies lived with their families on all three floors. The rear wings of the building, which opened to the inner courtyard, were directly intended for the bank's service personnel. On the second floor of the building lived the director of the bank, Iason Lortkipanidze, from whose apartment there was an exit to the office. The building is distinguished not only by the facades of the yard and the street, but also by the interior, and the furniture in it, which has survived to this day, was made by special order.
